CareerWing, Inc. ("CareerWing," "we," "us," or "our") operates the website careerwing.ai and the CareerWing platform (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our Service.

By using CareerWing, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password (or your Google OAuth token if you sign in with Google).

Profile and career data. To personalize your experience we collect information you provide: your Career GPS Profile, assessment responses, target careers, job preferences, resume content, LinkedIn profile content, and coaching conversation history.

Payment information. If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed by Stripe. We receive limited billing information (last four digits, card type, billing country) but do not store full card numbers or CVV codes.

Usage data. We automatically collect information about how you interact with the Service, including pages visited, features used, session duration, device type, browser type, operating system, IP address, and referring URLs.

Cookies and tracking technologies. We use cookies, pixel tags, and similar technologies to operate the Service, remember your preferences, measure performance, and deliver relevant advertising. See Section 6 for details.

We use your information to:

• Provide, personalize, and improve the Service
• Generate AI-powered career roadmaps, assessments, and coaching responses
• Process payments and manage your subscription
• Send transactional emails (receipts, password resets, account alerts)
• Send service announcements and product updates (you can opt out)
• Analyze usage patterns to improve features and fix bugs
• Measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns on platforms such as Google and Meta (Facebook/Instagram)
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service
• Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in the following circumstances:

Service providers. We work with third-party vendors who process data on our behalf, including:

• Stripe — payment processing and subscription management
• AI model providers (via OpenRouter) — your career profile and coaching prompts are sent to AI providers to generate responses; prompts may be processed by providers such as Anthropic, OpenAI, or others
• Resend — transactional email delivery
• Neon / Vercel — database hosting and application infrastructure
• Google Analytics — website usage analytics
• Meta (Facebook) — advertising measurement and remarketing

Business transfers. If CareerWing is acquired, merged, or sold, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information is subject to a different privacy policy.

Legal requirements. We may disclose your information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.

We retain your account and career data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial compliance purposes (e.g., tax records related to payments are kept for 7 years).

Anonymized, aggregated usage data that cannot identify you may be retained indefinitely to improve the Service.

CareerWing uses the following types of cookies and tracking technologies:

• Strictly necessary cookies — required for authentication and core functionality. These cannot be disabled.
• Analytics cookies — Google Analytics (GA4) collects anonymized usage data to help us understand how the Service is used.
• Advertising and remarketing cookies — we may use Google Ads and Meta Pixel to measure conversions (e.g., signups resulting from ad clicks) and to show you relevant ads on third-party platforms after you visit careerwing.ai.

You may opt out of personalized advertising through the Digital Advertising Alliance or Your Online Choices (EU).

For Google Analytics opt-out, install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Correction — request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
• Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated personal data
• Opt-out of sale/sharing — we do not sell personal information; if this changes, California residents will have the right to opt out under CCPA
• Data portability — request a machine-readable copy of your data
• Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you additional rights:

• The right to know what categories of personal information we collect and why
• The right to delete your personal information
• The right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell it)
• The right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process your personal data under the following legal bases:

• Contract — processing necessary to provide the Service you signed up for
• Legitimate interests — analytics, fraud prevention, and service improvement
• Consent — advertising and marketing cookies, where you have given explicit consent
• Legal obligation — compliance with applicable law

You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you believe we have processed your data unlawfully.

CareerWing is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@careerwing.ai.

We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted data transmission (TLS), hashed passwords, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

The Service may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a notice on our website before the change takes effect and updating the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
